Processing PDE requires administrator permissions to run on Windows 10

I have just downloaded processing onto my Windows computer. I am using Windows 10, version 2004, os build 19041.867.

If I attempt to run the Processing Development Environment executable, the splash screen will open, but it will close immediately after, and the application itself will not run. The only solution is to select the option “run as administrator” which requires that I enter the admin pin.

I’d rather not have to enter the pin every time. I suspect that not all Windows users are doing this every time they open the app. Is there something wrong with the download? I tried deleting it and redownloading, but the problem persists. How do I fix this?

Where did you extract the Processing folder to?

Try another location.

I created a separate folder called Programs Portable for some applications including Processing:

I just tried that, but it didn’t seem to help.
