Hi! I’m wanting to help organize a Processing Community Day 2026 event in New York City, NY, USA.
I’m a creative coach and programmer based in Brooklyn. A Recurse Center and SFPC alumn, I’m enrolled in next year’s IMA/LowRes cohort at NYU/Tisch. I’m in talks with folks from different creative communities in the city to put together a team to host PCD!
I’ve started this thread and will add more details as planning progresses.
Hi @book.of.iris and welcome to the forum!
Please add a New York City pin to the PCD map. It will help people find this thread and make it easier to get other people excited about PCD @ New York City
Don’t worry if the details are not finalized yet, you can update the info for your event later.
Woo!
I submitted the Github issue yesterday
Great! Somehow GitHub did not notify me. Sorry for the confusion.
I’ve merged PR #62, and PCD @ NYC is now live on the PCD map.
You are welcome to share this link with people in your community to invite co-organizers:

Feel free to post on the main thread if you have any questions or feedback. I will be checking regularly. I’m here to help
Best,
Raphaël
Hi @book.of.iris ! Glad to see you stepping up to help organize a PCD in NYC! I’d like to offer ITP/IMA as a venue.
Awesome

Dora Do and myself are having an exploratory meeting this Friday and we’ll talk about setting up an open call for organizers to join future meetings.
Last Wednesday 4/22, @doradocodes, @clairekwong and I got together at src nyc to brainstorm ideas!
Events (talks and workshops) should cater to varying experience levels, from beginners new to the Processing ecosystem to more experience creatives and engineers. We can incorporate collaborative activities like a telephone game using p5 where people build on each other’s sketches. The event is also a good opportunity to showcase and promote lesser used or upcoming features, and to get more people involved in open source contributing.
Importantly, we want artists to showcase their work! Be that through open projectors or other means. Just like ITP/IMA is excited to host the main event, the src is also excited to help put together an afterparty/algorave to showcases art made with Processing.
A big priority is funding and sponsorship. Ideally, PCD @ NYC speakers, facilitators, and artists are compensated. If you would like to support in this area or contribute in other ways, please reach out!
We’re hosting an Open Call for Organizers on Monday June 1st, 8PM @ src (81 Prospect St) before posting an open call for speakers, facilitators, and artists later in the summer. RSVP in this Luma event link.
