PCD @ Shanghai 2026

Hi there!

A discussion thread here.

We hope to organize this year’s PCD event in Shanghai or Suzhou, maybe other cities like Beijing. We can host a series of workshops, forums, exhibitions, and other events.

Welcome to build together:clinking_beer_mugs:

Some background information:

My name is Luo Xiao, a creative technologist and digital artist from China, focus on creation and teaching of interactive media, artificial intelligence, and generative art. (https://avantcontra.com/about/).

In the 2010s, I co-founded what was then China’s most active interactive media art forum with artists like Raven Kwok and Vinjn, among others. In 2019, I participated in PCD’s event in Shanghai, where I gave a lecture on OSC and launched a scaffolding tool for developing WeChat mini-games using p5js, called p5.we.

I currently run a tech&art enthusiast community (called Experimental Programming), now in its 10th year. Experimental Programming (实验编程, code2art.com) is a pioneering community and knowledge platform centered around technology and art, connecting cross-disciplinary experimenters worldwide. It originated from HUDOIT, China’s most active interactive media art forum in the 2010s. As a source of cutting-edge creative paradigms, it has long been invited to provide teaching solutions and technical support to many universities (including the CAFA, Tongji, Tsinghua, etc.), focusing on the practical exploration and knowledge dissemination of AI, interactive media, and generative art.

Thanks @avantcontra for submitting your event!

I’ve merged PR #24, so it’s now live on the PCD map.

You are welcome to share this link with people in your community to invite co-organizers: https://day.processing.org/event/pcd-shanghai-2026-754d2bc/

Feel free to post on the main thread if you have any questions or feedback. I will be checking regularly. I’m here to help

Best,

So excited that you’re interested in organizing a PCD event in Shanghai or Suzhou, Luo Xiao!

Just wanted to give a quick shoutout. Luo Xiao was one of the speakers at PCD Shanghai 2019, the first Processing Community Day event in China, which I co-organized. His talk drew a huge audience and was one of the highlights of the event.

Really excited to see this momentum continue, and looking forward to PCD in China!

Thank you Qianqian~ And these precious “historical” photos.

Hi @avantcontra :waving_hand:

I am a faculty member in NYU Shanghai’s IMA program and look forward to contributing to an event in Shanghai or a neighboring city. I previously participated in PCD at MIT in 2017 and - together with Raven - helped with PCD in Los Angeles in 2019. Happy to chat elsewhere too (believe Viola suggested a group?)
