Hi! I’m organizing a Processing Community Day 2026 event in Istanbul, Türkiye.
I’m an artist and lecturer at the Communication Design Department of Özyeğin University in Istanbul, Türkiye. I am planning a PCD event and would love to connect with anyone interested in participating or collaborating. I’ll be hosting a 3-hour workshop focused on bridging traditional cultural heritage with creative coding. We will explore algorithmic art practices through the lens of ancient Turkish symbols found in Anatolian rugs (kilim).
Event Details:
-
Level: Beginner to Intermediate
-
Location: While our campus is outside the city center, I want to ensure this event is accessible to everyone. Therefore, the workshop will be held at a central public venue in Istanbul city-center.
-
Date: I am aiming for a date (Saturday) in October 2026 to align with the global PCD window.
I am currently finalizing the venue and will share the specific location and registration details in the coming weeks hopefully.
If you are based in Istanbul (or nearby) and would like to join the workshop, please reply to this thread or send me a message. I’d love to see the local creative coding community come together for this!

Hi @alptugan and welcome back to the forum!
Please add an Istanbul pin to the PCD map. It will help people find this thread and make it easier to get people excited about PCD @ Istanbul
Don’t worry if the details are not finalized yet, you can update the info for your event later.
Hi @sableraph. I’ve already done that. I guess there was a problem with the plus code of mine according to Github bot. I’ve edited the map codes. Now it seems to be fixed. Thank you!
Thanks @alptugan,
I’ve merged PR #60, and PCD @ Istanbul is now live on the PCD map.
You are welcome to share this link with people in your community to invite co-organizers:

Feel free to post on the main thread if you have any questions or feedback. I will be checking regularly. I’m here to help
Best,
Raphaël
Hi @alptugan. I’ve merged your update in PR #90 and the changes are live at https://day.processing.org/event/pcd-istanbul-2026-d9d5119/
Note that the description page doesn’t currently support links (just fixed it
), so I’m adding the link to your form here for people interested:
By the way, maybe consider adding Processing to the list of languages in the interest form. I noticed Java is already included, but not everyone knows that Processing is built on Java, so it might be helpful to list it separately. Just a suggestion
@sableraph Thank you for the merge and suggestion! You’re right! I’ve added Processing and p5js to the list as well.
