L5 Usability testing for creative coders coming from Processing and p5.js

Hello all, I am working with graduate students at University of Washington on a Usability study of L5, for those with previous experience with p5.js or Processing but not L5.

They are interested in meeting online in one session, where the participant will create their first sketches with L5 and give some feedback.

By sharing your experience, you’ll help us improve the resources for open
source access for hundreds of users to use L5

Activity: You’ll try out a few library features and tell us what you think. No “expert” knowledge is required.

To participate, visit the survey link (link to Google form) or contact manishrv@uw.edu. They are trying to conduct these over the next few weeks FYI.

Thanks!

will you make the results public / convert them to github issues? or will this be a part of gsoc work?

Great question! There were 2 Usability Studies tests done. I have the first one - a Usability study a study on usability for Beginners to L5 (and creative coding) right here. The second study for people with previous creative coding experience I will post with an update here as soon as I get it, hopefully within a day. (Update: here is the second study report on experienced creative coders trying out L5).

They haven’t yet been turned into GitHub issues, but taking information from here will help inform creating some issues to work on. Particularly those that are high impact and/or quicker to implement.
