GSOC 2019: Ideas for p5.js Web Editor

Hello Everyone!

I am Ankit Tiwari, a third-year Computer Science Engineering student at IIIT Kalyani, India.

I came to know about the Processing Foundation through @shiffman’s Coding Train videos. I like how friendly and welcoming this community is to beginners and newcomers. All the APIs are implemented with simplicity in mind. I would love to be a part of this community and contribute as much as I can.

I have over 2 years of experience with MERN (Mongo, Express, React and Node) stack. I find p5.js web editor be a perfect project for contribution. Here are some of the ideas I am very interested to work on:

  • Add ability to make sketches private

  • Adding Test Coverage

  • Internationalization

  • Mobile/Responsive Design Implementation

I have some other ideas to improve the user experience like

  • Intellisense Support - Suggestions for Variables/Functions as the user types. I am very excited about this.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these ideas.

Thanks.
