there is an option to upload an applet to the itch.io to be played at the web. however it doesn’t seem to work with the PApplet. anyone nows if this is the case or might be just a mistake that I made…

where specifically did you see / read about this option? Can you give a link?
Belatedly: yes, it looks like “games-made-with-Processing” is a category on itch.io, and several forum users have posted their work there.
