Advice on crime data

I’m teaching a 5-week machine learning course to high school students this summer using p5.js and ml5.js. We’ll cover classification and regression during the final week, so I’d like to motivate the material through a conversation about policing and the justice system.

Does anyone have recommendations for related datasets? The Bureau of Justice Statistics and LA Crime & Arrest datasets seem like possible starting points.

Kaggle’s a great place to start! The data is usually very clean and ready to be dug into. A few minutes of sifting around found this: https://www.kaggle.com/cityofoakland/oakland-crime-statistics-2011-to-2016

The course itself sounds really cool! Wish I had had that in hs :grin:
