@kit i received the mail, unfortunately i am not in top 3 out of 150, but can you please tell me my proposal ranking out of 150?
Unfortunately, we won’t be share overall public rankings. But everything in the feedback emails is the outcome of extensive review, and I hope it can be useful.
@kit I recieved the mail, i am not selected, but can you please give me feedback on my proposal.
@kit , will you please tell us, who are selected.
The selected proposals were related to:
- “User-Friendly Features in the p5.js Editor”
- “Friendly p5.js Reference Translation Tasks”
- “Friendly Sketch Embedder for p5.js”
We’ll be following up on social media with formal announcements, and you can read more about the selected contributors and their projects on the official GSoC portal!
Hey @kit , i haven’t received any feedback email even though i got rejection mail.
Some emails have been queued, and some I’m still sending out. If you do not receive anything via email by the end of day on May 9th, but you applied, please @ or message me! Thanks everyone.
Hello all,
All emails have now been sent, so @ or message if it didn’t arrive!
If you’re not sure how the feedback applies to your proposal, or if you want more clarification on how you can improve future applications, I’m happy to follow up over email.
Especially for very strong applications, the feedback is mostly positive, and may refer to this:
All applications were reviewed by PF org admins and mentors, and below are some general observations on how we made final decisions. Here are some of the questions that guided our discussion:
- Who would get more from the experience? For example, GSoC eligibility requires that a contributor must be a student or a beginner to open source software development
- How extensively and concretely does this proposal:
…make very specific technical recommendations and justify them?
…integrate community feedback? (for example: building in time for feedback and testing throughout the timeline; or gathering community feedback for the proposal itself)
…consider access?
…demonstrate research and critical thinking?- Which application is more realistic? This evaluation was based on a combination of timeline detail, the CV/resume/bio/past PRs, and past community interaction
The above is a list of more subtle differences that helped some applications stand out from multiple really strong applications. So although nothing was wrong or missing in some proposals, in the competition, other proposals stood out because they had a particular depth or unique perspective. If you’ve already looked through your application and are not sure where exactly in there the above topics could have been explored, please respond via the email that you got.
All the best,
Kit
