Exporting a live wallpaper as stand alone app

when working on pc you should be able to export your project in android mode and generate an apk, however when I try this it fails and says I need custom icons or can default to the ones included, and I click ok to choose the latter and nothing happens. the tutorial link doesnt work either, maybe there are other posts in the forum with the same type.
