PCD Digital Meetup @ V&A 2026

Hi everyone, I’m an the organiser of creative coding and open hardware meetups in London. We’re celebrating Processing Community Day by organising a special event on 23rd October at the V&A. It’s free, drop in and we’re inviting people to present projects as part of a community Show & Tell. All the details are in the link below.

Hi @marcb, and thanks for organizing this!

Just a heads-up that there is already another PCD @ London 2026 being organized by @limzykenneth and folks at UAL CCI. I’ll rename this thread PCD Digital Meetup @ V&A 2026 to match the name in your event registration, and so the two London threads are clearly distinct.

We generally encourage organizers in the same city to connect and see if there are opportunities to collaborate or coordinate (see the Frequently Asked Questions section of the organizer kit.) That said, it’s completely fine to have more than one PCD in a city, especially when the events have different formats or audiences.

Either way, it would be great if you and @limzykenneth could connect!

Cheers,
Raphaël

Thanks @sableraph for suggesting the event name edit, indeed it works better this way. Our venue is in a different part of London and indeed the format and audience are likely to be a bit different, but very happy to connect with our friends at CCI for cross promotion. I’ve dropped @limzykenneth a message.

Are you able to add the event on the map?

Many thanks

Marc

Thanks for your response @marcb.

I’ve just merged PR #222, and your event is now live on the map:

If you have any questions as you plan the event, the Organizer Kit has everything you need to plan, run, and document your PCD. And of course, feel free to ask here as well, or by email at day@processing.org. I’m here to help!

Cheers,
Raphaël

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Digital Meetup at the V&A last Friday in collaboration with arebyte, to celebrate digital art and creative coding communities.

It was fantastic to see so many people experimenting with new tools, sharing ideas and connecting with London’s digital creative community.

The evening included interactive installations, creative coding showcases and hands on workshops exploring glitch art, satellite data, generative visuals and robotics.

Huge thanks to Ambie Drew , Freddie Sanders , Olivia Ema, Emir Johnston, Maria Than FRSA, Genetic Moo, Timothy Yufit, Maria Leonor Banha, Shredha Joseph, Yana Kiryakova, Nuray Tursynbek and Jahniyah James, and to everyone who shared their work and helped make the evening possible.

Here’s a summary of the activities and projects showcased during the evening:

Installations

Generative Interactive Visuals by Olivia Ema (@_oliviaema)

Visitors heard from artist Olivia Ema about how she uses TouchDesigner to create immersive, real-time visual environments.

Drawing Robots at Work by Emir (@emir.johnston)
Visitors interacted with 2 robots that responded to their environment, the audience and each other.

NEVER TOO LOUD!!! by Maria Than (@blurbnation)

Visitors drew mandalas with their voices using Maria’s custom-coded digital sand painting experience.

Workshops

Glitching Memories Workshop by Ambie Drew (@ambiedrew)

In this workshop, artist Ambie Drew demonstrated how to create 3D-scanned interactive images from everyday objects and transforming them into digital souvenirs.

Mapping Landscapes with Satellite Data Workshop
by Freddie Sanders (@f_sanders_)

Participants discovered how to source data from real time satellite imagery to produce interactive landscapes using Blender.

Creative coding community show & tell:

3 Ns and an M: Grass by Genetic Moo (@geneticmoo)

Interactive work connects pioneering computer artists with the V&A print collection, inspired by artworks of Camille and Charles Bangert, a creative-coding couple from the 1960s who used computers to simulate nature.

Cartas&Cartas by Maria Leonor Banha (@crartck)

Cartas&Cartas (Letters&Letters) is an experimental project inspired by the platform FutureMe and the idea of sending letters (emails) to your future self, connecting code to handwriting and fortune-telling devices. It encourages us to think of our future wishes and bits of advice.

Motion Tales by Shredha Joseph, Yana Kiryakova, Nuray Tursynbek and Jahniyah James

Motion Tales is an interactive reading experience that reimagines reading as a physical act. Built with p5.js and ml5.js for ages 7 and up, it uses gestures and body movement to control how the text moves on a screen, so you can wave, pinch or move your way through a story.

“Racks” by Timothy Yufit (@_yufit_0)

A digital archive of abandoned and dismantled bicycles on the streets of London. All of them once belonged to someone, sometimes for years. Some still carry stickers and traces of former ownership. But after being scavenged for parts by thieves, they have been neglected and continue to linger on the streets, tied to racks, slowly being dismantled further.

Thanks again, and mark your calendars for our final Digital Meetup of the year on Friday 4 December, everyone is welcome.
