Its white background is distracting for me, given I always use dark theme in Discourse. 
I wonder if its BG can be transparent instead?

Same here, I am using the Dark Reader extension on most websites! 
Btw: would it be possible to add a native Discourse dark theme toggle? (like this)

I like the idea of having it, but on dark theme it is really … uhm… quite challenging.
