You hook the sensor to your Arduino: 5v, gnd, A0. There’s a starter project on the SparkFun website which is a lot easier to follow. I already have the setup described previously.

That costs extra ;-). Wouldn’t the direction and speed be controlled by your encoder and Arduino? Isn’t that encoder on a motor? It seems the speed would be set by how fast you ran the motor and the direction by whether or not the motor was reversed.
what you say all right but the motor was not connected I turned it by hand because still on the arduino there is no software and not even in the v3 app to drive it
