Create a programm you can open files with

I have created a programm to process a self-made type of file. Is it possible to rewrite a programm and convert it into a application to open the file.

Edit: To clarify I want to wirte a programm that you can select when you double-click on a file it processes the file.

From within the Processing IDE you can export an executable for Windows, MacOSX and Linux.

From the Files menu select Export Application.
