[This video by Daniel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn_B3T_Vbxs&list=PLRqwX-V7Uu6Zy51Q-x9tMWIv9cueOFTFA&index=9) gives a nice, basic explanation of declaring / initialising variables.

I highly recommend Daniel Shiffman videos from 0 to 9 to learn the basics of programming (include declaration of variables and many useful things) in Processing, is how i started and remembered 😛
