While `Desktop.edit(..)` is, as you said earlier, probably the best way to handle, the other good default approach would be `xdg-open`.

You mean I don’t have to restart the computer to get out of vi?! 😆

Yes, the key value entry was not there.
So the code searched per OS trying to to assign value to _editor_ variable.
I have only one preferences txt file under the same path as yours.
Since xterm got installed the new entry got in place in the preferences file.
Then i changed that entry to point to _gedit_ and it works fine.
