Hola, hello 🙂 I’m Virginia, uxui engineer, vj and creative coder based in Uruguay. I’ve participated as an artist in the PCD a few years ago and now I’m stepping up as an organizer for PCD Montevideo

We’re passionate about bridging the gap between art and code through a diverse, inclusive lens. Our event will explore hands-on talks, live shows and p2p sessions. I’m super excited to bring the community together and host the 25th birthday of Processing right here in our city 🇺🇾

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to share a bit of inspiration for you all as PCD organizers 🌻

One thing many past organizers have done is write a short recap after their event and post it online. It’s a nice way to document the moment and give others ideas for their own events.

If you’ve been wondering what a PCD can look like, this (very incomplete) list should give you some ideas:

- [“Processing Community Day Santiago de Chile 2019 Recap”](https://medium.com/@nicotron/processing-community-day-santiago-de-chile-2019-recap-a3d57179bf5a)
- [“Processing Community Day Tokyo”](https://medium.com/@naoto_hieda/processing-community-day-tokyo-207aeda7bdd1) by [Naoto Hieda](https://naotohieda.com/)
- [“PCD2021”](https://medium.com/processing-foundation/pcd2021-ceaf19886642) by [Tim Rodenbröker](https://timrodenbroeker.de/) and \* [“Celebrating 20 Years of Processing with Arte Codificada”](https://medium.com/processing-foundation/celebrating-20-years-of-processing-with-arte-codificada-ec9892346b94) by [Zimaldo Melo](https://www.instagram.com/zimaldo_bacteria/) for examples of what an online PCD can look like.
- [“Processing Community Day Shanghai 2019 Recap”](https://medium.com/@qianqian.ye44/processing-community-day-shanghai-2019-recap-119333fb1566) by [Qianqian Ye](https://qianqian-ye.com/), the first PCD in China!
- [“After Processing Community Day”](https://medium.com/processing-foundation/after-processing-community-day-8e124b1ec85e): A recap of the first PCD at MIT in 2017, by [Taeyoon Choi](https://www.instagram.com/drwngdrwng/)
- [“How we organized Processing Community Day NYC 2019”](https://medium.com/@leeto/how-we-organized-processing-community-day-nyc-2019-162260f2340a): Behind the scenes of 2019 PCD in in New York by [Lee Tusman](https://leetusman.com/)

If you end up organizing a PCD, please consider sharing a recap as well. It helps build a shared memory across all the nodes, and it’s often nice to look back on what you created together. And if you have a favorite recap that you don’t see in the list, please post it below!

##### Other quick updates of the day:

- Welcome to [`PCD @ Seoul`](https://discourse.processing.org/t/pcd-seoul-2026/48243) and [`PCD @ Montevideo`](https://discourse.processing.org/t/pcd-montevideo-2026/48252) 💙

- [`PCD @ Tokyo`](https://discourse.processing.org/t/pcd-tokyo-2026/48229) is now on the map! Thanks @prod.ka.

- Special thanks to @micuat for fixing the Japanese localization ([PR #44](https://github.com/processing/processing-community-day/pull/44)) If you want to help but are not sure where to start, improving translations or contributing new ones can be a great way to contribute. The files are found here: [`pcd-website/src/i18n/locales`](https://github.com/processing/processing-community-day/tree/main/pcd-website/src/i18n/locales). Let me know if you need help.

- I fixed [a funny bug](https://github.com/processing/processing-community-day/issues/49) where the UID for the event could occasionally be interpreted as a number in scientific notation 😅

Cheers!
Raphaël

Hey, my name is Becca Rose, and I’m coordinating a PCD in **Hastings** , UK.

I was part of a PCD in 2019 which included a family day called “you make the rules” and an evening algorave. Absolutely loved organising it and making friends in the process. Looking forward to starting something here on the south coast.

Looking to collaborate with others so will start a thread 🧵

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to share this beautiful throwback video about the 2019 PCD in Los Angeles.

[![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/n3-_WcLaiV0/maxresdefault.jpg "Processing Community Day Los Angeles") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3-_WcLaiV0)

In researching it, I also stumbled upon [this interview](https://medium.com/processing-foundation/breaking-the-screen-12b952b02950) by @xinemata with [Yuehao Jiang](https://yuehaojiang.com/) who designed the visual identity for the event. Well worth a read.

##### Other quick updates of the day:

- Welcome to [`PCD @ Hastings`](https://discourse.processing.org/t/pcd-hastings-2026/48309) and [`PCD @ Portland`](https://discourse.processing.org/t/pcd-portland-2026/48319) 👋

- PRs now show [the complete data](https://github.com/processing/processing-community-day/pull/58) for the event in a table. This should make reviewing submissions and edits easier.

- Clarified the steps to submit your event on [day.processing.org](http://day.processing.org)

Hi I’m Iris!

I’m a creative coach and programmer, interested in helping organize PCD in New York City. I’m part of the Recurse Center and will be joining the ITP community at NYU/Tisch through their Interactive Media Arts Low Residency program.

I’m in dialogue with a few folks engaged in diverse creative coding communities around the city to collaborate for PCD.

Before submitting the form, I wanted to see if any folks with direct experience organizing PCD (previously in New York or elsewhere) were willing to connect with me to share their wisdom.

Hi Iris, welcome!

Great to hear you’re thinking about organizing something in New York.

You could reach out to @lee, who helped organize PCD in NYC in 2019, or take a look at this recap he wrote:

[How we organized Processing Community Day NYC 2019](https://medium.com/@leeto/how-we-organized-processing-community-day-nyc-2019-162260f2340a)

We also had some former organizers share tips in the info sessions:

Hi Raphaël! Great to see this happening.

I’m Yufeng Zhao, a master’s student in the Future Sketches group at MIT Media Lab in Cambridge, MA. Our group works at the intersection of art, code, and design, led by Zach Lieberman.

We’re planning to host [PCD @ Boston/Cambridge](https://discourse.processing.org/t/pcd-boston-cambridge-2026/48418) at the Media Lab! The idea is to feature talks from Media Lab members sharing their encounters with creative coding, invited speakers from the creative coding community, and an open projector session. Still finalizing the date (likely late October), but excited to get this going.

Looking forward to connecting with other organizers!

Hi @beccarose,

We’re encouraging October to make planning and coordination easier but if September fits better for you, go for it.

That said, our capacity will be more limited in September and we might not be able to support your event as much as we would in October.

Hi everyone!

Today I’m sharing the first draft of the [PCD Organizer Kit](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QGE1iM8fTB0E2bmEBfk2USfVTHG6MMasJxS9gS57WPk/edit?usp=sharing).

The goal of this kit is to make things easier for local organizers planning their PCD, especially if it’s your first time organizing something like this. It includes practical tips on planning, promoting, documenting, and running the event itself.

AND, I would appreciate feedback from you all @here, in particular:

- things that feel unclear or intimidating
- errors, typos, or contradictions
- resources, examples, or templates we should include
- anything else that would help you organize your PCD

If you can spare a few minutes, please read through the kit and add comments/suggestions directly [in the document](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QGE1iM8fTB0E2bmEBfk2USfVTHG6MMasJxS9gS57WPk/edit?usp=sharing), or share your thoughts in the replies below.

I hope you’ll find this kit helpful!

Raphaël

_PS: Thanks to @amy-bw for her contributions, and to everyone who helped review earlier drafts._

Hi everyone! My name is Ruben Medellin, a.k.a chubas.
I’m a software engineer, and have been doing creative code work [for a while](https://openprocessing.org/@chubas#sketches) as a hobby. I’ve been part of some online communities around creative code and p5.js. I’ve also given a couple talks and workshops in the past.

I’m interested in hosting the Processing Community Day in Guadalajara, Mexico, and also open to collaborate if someone from Mexico wants to organize in other state. I will be hosting it in HackerGarage, a hackerspace fit for such event. I don’t know many people here that could be interested, so part of my objectives is to grow the local community, so I will be reaching out to schools or other creative adjacent groups and also looking for activities, ideally to bring some people to do demos or a show of their work

Excited to participate in PCD!

Hi everyone! I’m [Munus Shih](https://munusshih.com), I’m a Taiwanese designer, coder and educator, currently teaching as an Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute in New York. I’m spending my summer vacation in Taiwan, and will be organizing Processing Community Day Taiwan in July with [my collective SpOnAcT!](https://instagram.com/spon.act)

We are connecting with local/global open source art and civic tech communities, and will be inviting them as speakers, or using their space to host satellite events. Such as MozTW, Open Culture Foundation, coseeing, digital medicine lab, g0v tw, IxDA TW. The events are scattered across all July. This year’s event is titled “NEW NEIGHBORS”.
