# How to pass parameters into a thread function

Hi!  
I recently came across the function `thread`. However when I tried to use the function

```auto
void setup() {thread("timer");}
void draw() {background(frameCount % 255);}

void timer(int delay, int rep) {
  for(int i = 0; i < rep || rep == -1; i++) {
    println(i,millis());
    delay(delay);
  }
}

```

it says that the function  
`timer()() does not exist `  
So is there a way to do something like `thread("timer(500,-1)")`?
