Hi everyone,

As part of Google Summer of Code 2026 with p5.js, I’ve been working on an addon that adds SVG import and export support using the Shape system.

Since my last update, the SVG import addon is now ready for testing,

If you’d like to try it out:

- **GitHub:** [GitHub - VANSH3104/p5.SVG.js: Native SVG export and import support for p5.js using the Shape system and PrimitiveVisitor architecture. · GitHub](https://github.com/VANSH3104/p5.SVG.js)
- **p5 Editor examples:** [p5.js Web Editor](https://editor.p5js.org/vanshkabra05/collections/zFSI0veVz)

I’d really appreciate it if you could try the addon with one of your own sketches or SVGs and let me know how it goes. If you run into any bugs, unexpected behavior, or have suggestions for improving the API or overall experience, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Thanks again to everyone who has shared feedback so far, it has been incredibly helpful!

Exciting! Maybe this is a silly question but if I want to change the color of the shape, how would I do that?

It uses its color currently. But if I want to apply the `fill` or `stroke` styles to it, is it possible or could it be possible?

If you’re referring to imported SVGs, then currently you can’t use p5 styling functions like `fill()` and `stroke()` to override the SVG’s styles. However, `loadSVG()` returns a live SVG DOM, so you can modify the SVG directly using the DOM APIs instead. Here’s an example: [svg-dom-import by vanshkabra05 -p5.js Web Editor](https://editor.p5js.org/vanshkabra05/sketches/a6XMSQHVu)

We’re still exploring the best API for this, so this may become more seamless in the future. Feedback like this is really helpful.

Thanks, that example is helpful!
