# Cannot get Processing 4.5.5 to run under Linux Mint

Here are the error messages

My explanation o the problem did not get included. I have been using Processing on a Windows 10 computer with success. I now want to use a Linux Mint computer and get the above error messages on even the simplest sketch. I’m sure I am missing something. I am brand new user of Linux. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Linux! It may be related to permissions and that is something I learned early on with Linux… that is part of the learning curve. Have fun!

Seeing in #1074 and #1047 this turns out not to be the case. Further investigation on the best way to assure that we have a runnable JDK is necessary.

If you’ve got it via a snap package, maybe it’s worth re-install it like this:  
`snap install processing --classic`

Although I guess it’s more likely you’ve got it via flatpak instead, given Mint doesn’t bundle snap!
