# Android mode does not work at all

Which Processing version are you using; there have been problems with 4.4 but 4.3 should still work.

I just checked my 4.3 and it still works here (macOS). Any error messages? Does Android Studio recognize your phone? Have you used it with Processing in the past? It shipped with a lower Android; have you recently upgraded it? Could be the AndroidMode; I’m using an old 410 version.

android studio recognizes it right away, but processing couldn’t recognize it even once.
I tried both in processing 3 and 4, but I never observed any functionality in terms of Android mode

Then let’s first focus on Android Mode. In the past I’ve had problems with that as well. It would help if we knew what version you are running. I wound up getting a revised version from the web because the current versions wouldn’t run on older devices. There was a very unique error message that went with the issue, reported also by others. You’re probably using the version that Processing IDE downloaded for you. What I did was rename it something like ‘AndroidMode\_orig’ and substitute the modified version that I downloaded from the web. I installed that AndroidMode folder from the archive but it complains about the sdk

There is an sdkManager in Android Studio to get what you might be missing.

Yay, I solved this problem by deleting the Android folder in AppData which is hidden by default in Windows. I also found that the platform tools that Processing downloads does not work, I copied the platform tools from the “user” folder (apparently it was there after Android Studio initialization) and copied the platform tools from there to the sdk folder in Processing.
